Committee Volunteer Job Descriptions
2010 - 2011


Volunteering on a committee is a wonderful way to get involved at Gardner Bullis. Time commitments vary by committee. If you are interested in participating on any of the following, please contact the respective committee chair to learn more.

Auction – Nikki Selden
The Auction is the primary fundraiser for our school and is typically held in March. We need subcommittee leads as well as committee volunteers for the following: Solicitation, Design, Marketing, Catalog Writer, Parent Parties, Database and Reservations, Check-in/Check-out and Accounting, Website, Music, Volunteers (event day).

Volunteers are recruited through classroom Room Parents and help to organize and staff classroom games/activities.

 

Gardner Bullis Newsletter – Lizzy Rowe 
Volunteers needed to help with the relaunch of the Gardner Gazette. The plan is to issue an exciting monthly newsletter, in addition to a weekly list of dates and events. If you have any desktop publishing or writing skills or experience with newsletters, your help will be particularly welcome but enthusiasm and an interest in Gardner Bullis are really all that's necessary. The time commitment should not be more than a few hours a month.

Volunteers help sell Gardner Bullis Wear at various events throughout the school year.

Volunteers assist in holiday gift drive and other charitable events throughout the school year.

Hospitality – Cristina Anagnos, csanagnos@yahoo.com
Volunteers assist in the purchasing and setting up of food and supplies for General PTA meetings, and various school events such as Back-To-School Coffee, Special Person’s Day, Kindergarten Open House, Gardner Bullis Open House, and Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon.    Also, volunteers needed to assist in downloading and setting up music for school events throughout the year.
 

Hot Lunch Servers – Karen Jeffery, karenjeffery2001@yahoo.com
Help serve hot lunch! Volunteers are scheduled from 11:40AM until approximately 12:30PM one day every other week, (twice per month).  

Junior Olympics – Anne-Sophie Stephan, asadeline@gmail.com
Assist Junior Olympic chair as needed with Gardner Bullis participation in this District-wide spring event for all fourth, fifth, and sixth graders.  

New Family Welcome/Sunshine - Sara Hurst, sarajhurst@yahoo.com ; Kim Wheeler, kimswheeler@yahoo.com
Volunteers help provide outreach to families new to Gardner Bullis as well as families in need. Volunteers serve as a resource for new families who have questions about school activities, events, practices, etc. Prepare dinner, treats as needed to any family in need.  

Parcel Tax - Jennifer Denebeim, jdenebeim@comcast.net; Crysta Krames, crystal.krames@gmail.com
Help our Parcel Tax representatives promote the importance of passing a new parcel tax through our school and local community.

Parent Education Open
Assist committee chair as needed in promoting and setting up Parent Education events. 

Project Cornerstone Asset Building Champions - Jenifer Aronowitz, gingymom35@yahoo.com and Megan Crissman, megan_crissman@hotmail.com
Asset Building Champions help our students build character and strengthen their interpersonal skills by reading children’s books and leading classroom activities that help promote positive peer interactions and minimize bullying. Classroom activities are scheduled monthly. Training and materials are provided through the Project Cornerstone Chairs.

Assist committee chairs as needed in promoting school safety. 

Science FairOpen
Volunteers are needed to help organize and set-up the event. Volunteers are needed to help evaluate the individual entries. 

Staff Appreciation – Kathy Eggers, edeggers@att.net
Help make Staff Appreciation Week (May) a success by showing our teachers how much we value all that they do for our children! Prepare dishes for the staff luncheon, bring special treats during the week, arrange classroom flower vases and deliver to staff on Flower Day.

Technology – Vladimir Ivanovic, vladimir@acm.org
The Technology Committee supports the implementation and use of computer-related technology as a core teaching tool at Gardner Bullis. The committee draws on the many talents of our technology-savvy parents and welcomes volunteers who can bring enthusiasm and energy to help with the planning and implementation of technology projects throughout the year.

Walkathon – Michelle Galbraith, michellegalbraith1@yahoo.com
Volunteers are needed to assist the committee chair as needed in planning and promoting the Walk-a-thon. Day of event volunteers are needed to help with set-up, registration, food sales, punching lap cards, distributing lap prizes, first aid, clean up, etc. Each shift lasts approximately one hour and a half.

Volunteers help gather photos, layout yearbook pages, and distribute books to students.
